Clinical sensitivity – Rexall Pregnancy Test
CPG Health Contacted SPD American Support to learn more details about the Rexall Pregnancy Test. The company was uncooperative.
We did, however, ascertain that the analytical / clinical sensitivity of the Rexall One Step Pregnancy Test is 25 mIU/mL. This means that 100% of women with an HCG concentration of 25 mIU/mL will receive a positive result.
The company would not tell us the HCG cutoff value for this product.
Also, for what it’s worth, we confirmed on May 13, 2021 that the appropriate FDA document number for this product is K042280. The product was originally approved under the device name, “FACT PLUS ONE-STEP PREGNANCY TEST KIT.”
Rexall Pregnancy Test Manufacturing and Distribution
Right now, SPD, the company that owns the Clearblue trademark, distributes the device packaged as the Rexall One Step Pregnancy Test. From the SPDspark.com website:

Before you begin
- Read all the instructions that come with your test. Have a clock or timer available that shows seconds.
- IMPORTANT: Check the expiration date on the product’s package and sealed foil packet. Do not use an expired pregnancy test.
- Use your Rexall Pregnancy Test as early as four days before your expected period. That’s 5 days sooner than waiting for your missed period.
- Do not point the absorbent tip of your Rexall Pregnancy Test upward. If you do, the test won’t function properly.
How to use the Rexall Pregnancy Test
For midstream use:
- Open the pouch immediately before you intend to use your test. Remove the test stick from the pouch and remove the purple cap.
- Hold the test by the thumb grip with the absorbent tip pointing down. Don’t point the tip upward at any time during testing.
- Place the tip in your urine stream for five seconds. No more, no less. Failure to do this may invalidate your test.
- Replace the purple cap over the tip and place your test on a flat surface with the result window facing up. Your result will appear within two minutes.
For cup use
- Open the pouch just prior to using your test. Remove the purple cap to expose the test’s absorbent tip.
- Urinate into a clean, dry cup. Hold the test stick in your urine sample so that you submerge the entire absorbent tip. Do this for 20 seconds. More or less time may invalidate your test.
- Replace the purple cap over the absorbent tip. Lay the test on a flat surface with the result window facing up. Wait at least 2 minutes to read your result (don’t read your result after 10 minutes).

Rexall Pregnancy Test FAQ
Many women ask us the following questions about Rexall Pregnancy Test, so we’ve compiled this information as an FAQ.
The pregnancy test uses a chemically-sensitive strip that reacts to the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin in your urine. If you have a sufficient amount of HCG to indicate pregnancy, you receive a plus sign as a positive result.
You can use the test as early as four days before your expected period. As noted above, you sacrifice accuracy by testing early, so always re-test for pregnancy on the day of your missed period to confirm your result.
You first morning urine usually contains a higher HCG concentration than urine later in the day. If you test early, you should use your first morning urine. Otherwise, you can test at any time. CAUTION: Do not drink large amounts of fluid prior to pregnancy testing. Doing so may cause you to see an inaccurate result.
Perform your test according to your longest recent period. If you’re uncertain, the manufacturer recommends that you test at least 19 days from the day you think that you may have gotten pregnant. If you receive a negative result, test again in 3 days with a fresh test.
You can read your result after 2 minutes as long as you see a blue line in the oval “Control” window of your test stick. You could see a result in as little as one minute. Disregard your result if you read it after 10 minutes.
Failure to read directions, fertility drugs that contain HCG, fertility therapies, recent cessation of the contraceptive pill, irregular periods, recent pregnancy, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, menopause, and some rare medical conditions can give you misleading results.
Discuss concerns about your pregnancy and health with a doctor or similar qualified health professional.
Testing early, improper testing (not following directions),using an expired tests.
Contact a qualified healthcare professional for guidance, if you receive a positive pregnancy test result.
A negative result means that you do not have an elevated concentration of HCG. Test again in 3 days with a fresh test.If you’re still convinced your pregnant, discuss your concerns with a medical professional.
Rexall Pregnancy Test is over 99% accurate from the day of your missed period. If you test early, you can expect to lose accuracy.
Symptoms and signs which show that you need to take the Rexall Pregnancy Test
If you’ve been trying to get pregnant or think that you might be pregnant, the Rexall Pregnancy Test is for you.
You, however, need to know what symptoms to look for that indiciate you should take the Rexall One Step Pregnancy Test:
Missed Period
If you don’t start your menstrual period when you’re supposed to, it’s time to check for pregnancy.
Cramping
If you’re experiencing cramps and other discomfort, you might be pregnant. You should test to find out.

Pregnant women produce increased amounts of estrogen and progesterone. The increased blood flow may make your breasts appear larger and feel tender.
Similarly, you might feel numbness or tenderness in your vagina or cervix.
If you’re experiencing this, test for pregnancy.
Can I use Rexall Pregnancy Test to test early?
Rexall Pregnancy Test has a sensitivity rating of 25 mIU/mL. In other words, it does not have a high sensitivity that you’d expect from an early result test.
Still, according to product packaging and Rexall Pregnancy Test directions (see above), you may test up to five days sooner with Rexall. According to Rexall Pregnancy Test packaging, testing 5 days sooner means 4 days before your expected period.
Testing early vs accuracy
Please note that testing early affects the accuracy of your pregnancy test result.
While the Rexall test is over 99% accurate from the day of your expected period, it is less accurate if you test early. The following chart illustrates the effect of early testing on accuracy.
Number of days before expected period. | % of pregnant women getting a positive result with Rexall Pregnancy Test |
-4 Days | 53% |
-3 Days | 74% |
-2 Days | 84% |
-1 Day | 87% |
Other physical changes
Pregnant women tend to feel “different” before they have any visible sign of pregnancy. If you have any of these symptoms, you may be pregnant:
- Nausea.
- Food aversions.
- Exhaustion.
- Frequent urination.
- Food cravings.
Failed contraception – OOPS
Perhaps you forgot to take “the pill.” Maybe the condom broke. If your method of contraception didn’t work as expected, you might be pregnant. Test for pregnancy with the Rexall Pregnancy Test.
Pregnancy may cause a change in your temperament. If you notice this, use a pregnancy test.
What will I need to use Rexall Pregnancy Test?

If you can’t reach your urine stream or if you prefer to use the test differently, you can collect a urine sample in a clean cup.

How do I read my Rexall Pregnancy Test result?
Read your test result between two minutes and ten minutes. Do not read your result before two minutes or after ten minutes.
Rexall Positive result
If you see a “plus” sign in the round “result” window and one blue line in the oval “control” window, you have a valid positive pregnancy test result.
Rexall Negative result
If you see a blue line in the oval “Result” window, you have a valid negative pregnancy test result.
Invalid result
If you have performed your test and do not see a blue line in the oval result window, you have an invalid pregnancy test result. Discard the test unit and try testing again with a fresh unit.
Also, if you read your test result too early (sooner than 2 minutes) or too late (later than 10 minutes), you have an invalid result.
Rexall Pregnancy Test faint line
It does not matter if one of the lines that makes up the “plus” sign is lighter or darker than the other. Also, the intensity of the blue line in the “control” window does not matter. A faint line is a positive result.
