Beware of false pregnancy test information

Many of our readers become confused and deceived because they read dishonest websites such as PregnantEve.com that provide misinformation to attract your clicks from Google Search results.

PregnantEve.com provides dishonest, false, misleading, and inaccurate information about pregnancy tests, including the Family Dollar product.

We’re angry that Google promotes fraudulent websites, such as PregnantEve.com, because their lies can lead you to make the wrong choices during pregnancy.

We’re not making it up. Below, you’ll see just one of the many lies PregnantEve.com tells potential mothers:

CPG Warns you against pregnancy test websites that willfully spread false information.
PregnantEve.com spreads dangerous, damning lies about pregnancy tests just to attract clicks from Google’s search results.

This test from Family Dollar is an EARLY RESULT pregnancy test. Please see the photograph of the actual package below:

Why are you so angry about PregnantEve.com’s lies about pregnancy tests?

CPG Health makes a substantial investment in labor, product samples, product testing, and research to provide women with the most reliable pregnancy test information available online.

When Google promotes lying, dishonest, fraudulent, obsolete websites such as PregnantEve.com, they prevent some women from finding CPG Health and the reliable information we provide.

When Google promotes PregnantEve.com’s lies over CPG Health’s truth, they deprive us of web traffic that helps to finance our professionally run operation. That’s wrong.

Shame on Google for deceiving potentially pregnant women!

(This isn’t the first blatant lie told by PregnantEve.com. Recently, we caught them lying about Dollar General’s Rexall Pregnancy Test. They wrongly said that test was a cassette-based test when photographic evidence proves that it’s a test stick.)

We hate that we must expose unscrupulous and malicious pregnancy test websites that deliberately lie to you. We hate sounding negative.

We must also, however, protect the value of CPG Health and the welfare of our readers. It’s our duty to you as a woman to make sure you have accurate, honest, reliable, and up-to-date information about your pregnancy test options.

Now, let’s move on to some reliable information from CPG Health.

What is Family Dollar sensitivity?

To qualify as an Early Result pregnancy test, Family Dollar’s product must have a high level of HCG sensitivity.

STILL, you must beware: Not all Early Result Pregnancy Tests are equal.

For example, we recently published information about Rite Aid One Step Pregnancy Test reviews. You can test early with that product, but its HCG clinical sensitivity is only 25 mIU/mL. So, as is the case with most Plus-or-Minus (+/-) pregnancy tests, you sacrifice accuracy by testing early.

Two flavors of pregnancy test HCG sensitivity

Pregnancy tests have two different ratings for HCG sensitivity:

HCG Cutoff Sensitivity is the HCG concentration that triggers a positive result in a minimum of 50% of users. At the cutoff sensitivity level, about half of women will have a positive result and the other half will receive a negative result.

Family Wellness Pregnancy Test from Family Dollar has an HCG cutoff sensitivity of 8 mIU/mL (FRER has an HCG Cutoff Sensitivity of 6 mIU/mL.

Family Dollar HCG Cut Off Sensitivity is 8 mIU/mL. Analytical HCG Sesnsitivity is 10 mIU/mL. Source: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/cdrh_docs/pdf15/K150022.pdf.

HCG Analytical Sensitivity is the HCG concentration that triggers a positive result in 100% of a pregnancy test’s users. Every woman who has an HCG concentration in her urine of 10 mIU/mL will receive a positive result. (First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test has an HCG Analytical Sensitivity of 10 mIU/mL, identical to Family Dollar Pregnancy Test).

Where do you get your information?

CPG Health publishes verified information from pregnancy test manufacturers and distributors. We also get lab testing information and device features and specifications from the United States Food and Drug Administration.

Who manufacturers the Family Dollar Test?

According to documents filed with the FDA, GUANGZHOU WONDFO BIOTECH CO., LTD. manufactures the Family Wellness Early Result Pregnancy Test.

FOURSTAR GROUP INC. distributes the product to Family Dollar Stores via Midwood Brands, LLC., the parent company of Family Dollar.

How does Family Dollar Pregnancy Test work?

The Family Dollar Early Result Pregnancy Test works by treating a chemical strip with a formula that reacts to urine and human chorionic gonadotropin, the HCG pregnancy hormone.

The manufacturer mounts the HCG test strip in a plastic stick and equips it with an absorbent tip that absorbs urine either from your urine stream or a sample in a cup.

When properly used, the test displays one line in the “C” (Control) section of your test stick to indicate a valid result.

If you have ample HCG in your urine, you’ll see a second line appear in the “T” (Test) section of your test stick to indicate a positive pregnancy test result.

Here’s how the manufacturer describes how the Family Dollar pregnancy Test works:

Indications for Use (Describe):

[Family Wellness Early Result] Pregnancy Test is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection
of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine, as an aid in early detection of pregnancy, in some cases as early as five
(5) days before the expected period, i.e., as early as six (6) days before the day of the missed period.

Important note regarding negative results:

Some pregnant women will not be able to detect hCG in their urine 5 days before the expected period. If you test negative
before your missed period, but think you may still be pregnant, you should test again a few days after your missed period.

Important note regarding positive results:
Because this test detects low levels of hCG, it is possible that this test may give positive results even if you are not
pregnant. If you test positive, but think you may not be pregnant, you should check with your doctor.
All results should be confirmed by your healthcare provider, especially when making decisions about future medical care.
